The third generation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) is imperative to keep 1.5°C within reach. As the first Global Stocktake (GST) has demonstrated, countries collectively fall well short of the necessary ambition level. But what are essential elements of robust NDCs 3.0 and how can the GST practically inform their development process? It is clear that civil society engagement is key for ambitious climate goals. Participatory and inclusive processes improve the quality of politics and translate between international and local levels. To this extend the event will discuss the role of civil society organisations in the NDC process, highlight “best practice” examples and the challenges they face.
